The Bronx Zoo ... one weekend too early

I read recently that the Bronx Zoo was resuming its summer hours on 4/4, so, with Kate's work in somewhat of a lull that weekend, we decided to check it out. We were, of course, assuming that the resumption of summer hours implied the resumption of summer activities (ie, the 'Asia' exhibit, the monorail, the dinosaur adventure exhibit, etc.). We were wrong. Here are a smattering of shots from the winter exhibits:

Cookie of the Month: April -- Lemon Bars

This month for the kids' grandpas we made the favorite cookie of Aunt Breanna: The Lemon Bar. 

We love lemon bars. The wonderful tangy flavor. The creamy, silky filling. The tender, buttery shortbread crust that stays crusty ... and even browns up a bit at the edges! 

The kids had a great time making these classic treats. They were in a great mood as they had just seen 'The Incredibles' for the first time. And, as you can tell, they donned masks to make the experience a little more ... incredible.

Cookie of the Month -- February and March: White Chocolate Macadamia cookies and Shortbread cookies

It seems that I haven't been updating the blog as much as I think I have .... here are the photos from the last two gatherings of the Toddler Bakery Surprise of the Month Club, where we made White Chocolate Macadamia cookies (February) and Shortbread cookies (March):

Welcome to the end of March, friends and family! Here are the best photos of the month:

For my birthday, we went to the Liberty Science Center, where we learned lots about science ... including that we could eat donuts in a snack area and that the gift shop sells scorpion lollipops and astronomy-themed pajamas!

While Kate was working from home, I also took the kids out to the Prospect Park Zoo, Brooklyn's 'Old Stone House,' and a superhero store called 'Brooklyn Superhero Supply,' where the kids tried on capes over a giant fan (which blew E's dress up Marilyn Monroe-style).

We then took the munchkins to Coney Island for a trip to the aquarium and the beach...
