Because I took the time to get a headstart on my European adventure by virtually overloading all my suitcases with clothes and (of course) shoes, I'm now having to go back on my progress and face the reality that preparing early for a trip is a false notion. I've already had to "unpack" a couple shirts and "set aside" a couple packed things as items classified as "to be used later." Shoes especially. My ascetic notion that I'll only need one pair of shoes (let alone my work shoes) for a week was immature. At least that's what Pecos said.....
