Summer is here (well, not astronomically) and we're loving it.
After having been closed for seven months, the NYC Aquarium in Coney Island has reopened. And with our Wildlife Conservation membership giving us free parking there (and, thus, at the beach) it feels that summer has officially begun. Here are a few photos from the first weekend in June, which included two trips to the beach and a hunt for cicadas.
We told the kids that they couldn't sit on the stoop naked. They figured out a compromise. |
When they're not trying to kill each other, they're actually pretty cute |
I made dolmas ... easier than you think |
First jaunt to the aquarium .... |
Watching the sea lion show (E is less impressed than H) |
Riding a log flume in Coney Island |
Going up is a little scary |
Just about to go down ... H apparently is taking it all in |
Putting sand belongs back in the ocean (of course) |
Enjoying our little Bay Ridge "Narrows" Botanic Garden |
A minor wound from a pretty major crash |
We managed to find cicadas in Staten Island |
We also made some friends ... |
And visited the top-rated beach in NYC |

Dolmas, WOW! do they contain lamb? They look wonderful and I am very impressed. The log flume pictures are great and I completely agree with the fear/anxiety on E's face. Love the jumping in the surf pictures. E has wonderfully straight legs (not bowed).
