Home Alone ... With Kids ... for Father's Day Weekend

Believe it or not, sports fans, but Kate took a long overdue weekend away this past weekend, meaning I had freedom to corrupt the kids in new, different, and unsupervised ways. Cotton candy waffles for breakfast, anyone?

Actually, aside from wearing the kids out with a go-go-go schedule and unintentionally allowing them to get a heaping dose of e. coli from ingesting large amounts of grody pool water, we had a pretty normal (but fun) schedule.

Friday:

Perhaps H needed a little more supervision during his morning constitutional
After school we visited the aquarium to see the live-action version of March of the Penguins
This was followed by a trip to Coney Island. (There was a mermaid theme to this ride ... but H didn't seem to believe it was better down where it's wetter)
Gone Fishin'
Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!!
She gets this form from her mother
Storm's a brewing (in my head that's said in a Maine accent)
Testing if butterflies enjoy sand baths (they do!)

Saturday:
Roaring on the Bronx Zoo monorail
Looking for the turtle I pointed out. "Where the shell is it?" I asked. This was met with blank stares. (He was walking right tortoise, btw)
Kate saw this picture and said, "Oh, you let her wear three accessories." My response: ??

Watching a polar bear with the newly engaged couple (Congrats, guys!)
Combing her hair with a fork while singing "Wish I could be part of that world" ... thanks for the encouragement, Auntie Bre!
Sunday:
The Pier 6 Splash Park, well worth the 20 minutes it takes to find parking

Very cute picture of E wading in e. coli soup

Obligatory million-dollar-view playground time (for those familiar with Fort Hamilton, you know what I'm talking about)
The kids' first sushi and ramen experience. Bottom line: I ended up with lots of sushi!

Really Justin, the pool looks fine, possibly the sushi got them sick. Looks like a fun packed weekend and I bet you were exhausted. And then of course Kate was because E&H got so sick.
