Cookie of the Month - Dec: Polvorones

Ah, December. The month of giving. The month of joy and peace. And the month to indulge in deliciously fattening bakery treats.

This month we used child labor to bring the kids' grandparents the 'family favorite,” cookie of Edward "Mr. Angel Slices himself" Gargurevich: The Angel Slice (also known as the Russian Tea Cake, an Italian Butter Nut, a Southern Pecan Butterball, a Snowdrop, a Viennese Sugar Ball, a Snowball, and of course, the Polvorone).

One of Mexico’s most popular treats, consumed on an everyday basis, and found in just about every Panadería (bakery) and any grocery store throughout the whole country, the Polvorone is a melt-in-your mouth shortbread-like cookie that comes in many flavors: plain, pecan, peanut, vanilla, cinnamon and even chocolate, to name some. We went for almonds.

Since the cookie is so light, almonds add a nice and nutty depth of flavor, as well as an extra crunch.

Hope they enjoyed. Here are the photos:

WOW that is a lot of cookies! I think you should work out some sort of rotating delivery system. Thank you for them and your efforts.
